LIFE- FROSTDEFEND at Agrotica Expo 2026

The FROSTDEFEND tool was presented at the AGROTICA Expo 2026, held in Thessaloniki, Greece, in March. The exhibition brought together a wide range of stakeholders from across the agricultural sector, including farmers, agronomists, cooperatives, public sector representatives, and industry experts. The event provided an important platform for showcasing innovative solutions that support climate adaptation in agriculture.
During the expo, the LIFE- FROSTDEFEND project team introduced the FROSTDEFEND tool as a cost-effective and practical solution for predicting frost risk in orchards. The system is based on a smart IoT infrastructure that continuously monitors environmental conditions in real time, enabling the early detection of frost-related risks. By delivering timely alerts, FROSTDEFEND supports farmers in taking preventive measures before frost events occur. This proactive approach helps reduce crop damage, limit economic losses, and improve the overall resilience of agricultural production in the face of increasingly frequent and severe extreme weather conditions.
The LIFE -FROSTDEFEND presence at the exposition highlighted the broader objectives of the project, focusing on strengthening climate resilience and promoting accessible, data-driven decision-making tools for the agricultural community. Through direct engagement with stakeholders at AGROTICA Expo 2026, the project team exchanged valuable insights on the current challenges faced by the sector and emphasized the importance of practical, user-friendly climate adaptation solutions.
