LIFE FROSTDEFEND Seminar at the Agricultural University of Athens – January 2025
On Friday, January 10, 2025, the LIFE FROSTDEFEND consortium hosted a seminar at the Agricultural University of Athens, where Professors Georgakopoulos and Papadakis introduced students to the FROSTDEFEND tool and its real-world applications.
Professor Georgakopoulos presented the concept of biological ice nucleation and demonstrated how the use of the tool can improve frost prediction and management. He was followed by Professor Papadakis, who delivered a lecture titled “Frost and Citrus: Vulnerability of Cultivated Species, Damage, and Protection Measures,” showcasing case studies that highlighted the tool’s practical value in crop protection and yield enhancement.
The event offered students valuable insights into innovative, EU-funded strategies for mitigating frost-related agricultural risks.
